Hosted by Monika Ghent & Michael Vertolli – initiated Graniceros (Weather Workers) in the Nahua tradition of Mexico
I will be leading a Traditional Weather Work Harvest Ceremony on Sunday, October 11th, in Maple, Ontario. This ceremony is an opportunity to gather in joy and gratitude in honour of the Weather Forces for their precious, life-giving rains that bring abundance and bounty to our lands. It is also a time of thanksgiving and gratitude to the plants, animals and other beings that give of themselves to sustain our lives.
We honour and celebrate this season of harvest and abundance through offerings of flowers, fruit, and bread. Together we create an altar of abundance and gratitude as a feast for the Weather Beings. While the Weather Beings enjoy our offerings, we celebrate with a toast of wild grape juice and a potluck feast. We end the ceremony with a closing prayer around 3pm.
Afterwards, people are welcome to stay for questions around the fire about our Weather Work tradition. Michael will also be giving a short introduction to our weather ceremony at a sacred site in Northern Ontario.
The ceremony will be held rain or shine!
Please RSVP to monika@monikaghent.ca if you would like to attend. You will need to bring fruit, bread (sweet and salty), and flowers that you will offer at the ceremony as well as a dish for the potluck. Once we receive your RSVP, I’ll send you further information of the day’s events.
