Hosted by Monika Ghent & Michael Vertolli – initiated Graniceros (Weather Workers) in the Nahua tradition of Mexico
I will be leading a Traditional Weather Work Harvest Festival at our home at 10971 Jane Street in Maple, Ontario. This ceremony is an opportunity to gather in joy and ceremony in honour of the weather forces for their precious, life-giving rains that bring abundance and bounty to our lands. It is also a time of thanksgiving and gratitude to the plants, animals and other beings that give of themselves to sustain our lives.
We honour and celebrate this season of harvest and abundance through offerings of flowers, fruit, bread and prayers. We’ll create an altar of abundance and gratitude together as a feast for the Weather Beings. While they enjoy our offerings, we’ll celebrate with a potluck meal.
After our feast, the ceremony will end with a closing prayer around 3pm.
Afterwards, people are welcome to stay for questions around the fire about our Weather Work tradition. Michael will also give a short introduction to our weather ceremony at a sacred site in Northern Ontario.
Please RSVP to info@monikaghent.ca if you would like to attend. Attendees will need to bring fruit, bread (both sweet and savoury), and flowers as offerings as well as a dish for the potluck. Once we receive your RSVP, we’ll send you further information of the day’s events. Please pass this invite on to anyone who you feel would be interested in attending this ceremony.
The ceremony will be held rain or shine!
We look forward to celebrating the bounteousness of our land and this beautiful season with you!
