Limpias with copal smoke is one of the healing forms used in traditional Nahua healing.
Copal is an aromatic resin from a sacred tree in the Burseraceae family indigenous to Central and South America and has been used for centuries in ceremony and healing. Limpia means to clean or purify. Copal limpias are used to spiritually cleanse and heal a person, space, or land and bring in positive, life-supporting energies.
Copal has a heavenly aroma that is sweet and light and yet deep and complex all at the same time. To use copal in healing and clearing it is placed on hot coals in a special clay container called a sahumador. Its smoke is then waved over a person’s body while power-filled prayers are recited.
Copal limpias are used for clearing, purifying, healing, restoring and rebalancing the body, mind, and spirit. They remove any negative, stagnant, or dark energies that interfere with healing and draw in spiritually welcoming and beneficial energies, sweetness, harmony, and protection.
Copal limpias provide a gentle, yet deep, cleansing and restoring of the energies of the body, mind, and spirit. After receiving a copal limpia, people feel relaxed, calm, present, light, clear, rejuvenated, liberated, expanded, connected, centred, grounded and at peace.
Copal limpias are also used to spiritually clean and bless spaces, such as our home, work space, and land. Our physical and spiritual well-being are deeply connected to and influenced by the spaces we inhabit and work in. Copal limpias are used to increase positive spiritual presences and change the environment of a space to one that is supportive of good health, happiness, productivity, and harmony.
